With over 40 years professional experience as an established attorney in Vermont and Connecticut and a former member of the U.S. Navy, Kimberly has quite the storied career. His positions include, Asst. Attorney General of Education, State Attorney, Attorney General, and Chairman of Vermont Labor Relations Board, to name a few.
Kimberly B. Cheney is an established attorney who has been practicing law for more than 50 years throughout Vermont and Connecticut. As a graduate of Yale College (‘57) and Yale Law School (‘64), Cheney’s general litigation practice includes Personal Injury, Consumer Fraud, Criminal Law, and Professional Regulation. He is also skilled in the field of labor management relations and authored the Labor and Employment Law in Vermont (Butterworth Legal Publishers, 360 pgs. 1994).
Prior to earning his law degree, Cheney had the privilege of serving in the U.S. Navy (Lt. U.S.N.R) and continued to hold several civic posts throughout his storied career. He served as an Assistant Attorney General of Education in Vermont from 1967-68 and was elected Washington County State Attorney from 1968-1972 and Attorney General of the State from 1973-75. He also served as Chairman of the Vermont State Labor Relations Board 1978-1985 and presently serves as chair of the Vermont State Employees Credit Union (VSECU) and Montpelier Planning Commission.
Cheney was also instrumental in the reform of child custody criteria in 1986 and has written several family law articles appearing in the Vermont Bar Journal.
Cheney is a member of the Vermont Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Vermont and before the United States Supreme Court.
